Plot / Synopsis
This is a story of passion, adultery, incest and drugs from the awarded Portuguese director João Canijo. In Blood of my Blood, Marcia is a single mother of two, who works as a cook and shares her house with her sister Ivette. Claudia, Marcia's daughter, falls in love with a married man, many years her senior, and that love story leads to a disaster. Canijo's lens put us straight into these character's hearts while exposing a very harsh subject. The melodrama develops in the outskirts of Lisbon with a universal plot, something that Canijo mastered upon perfection. Within the lines of Blood of my Blood lies the hostility of the Oedipal relationships and the gap between classes. ~ iffpanama.org
